Alibris store

Yesterday I signed up for Alibris, and uploaded my first books.  I priced the paperbacks at 2-4 dollar and the hardcovers at 7 dollars.  What I didn’t know was that Alibris adds 12 dollar to books from international sellers  on US websites O_o. Which means that suddenly, my books cost between 14-19 dollars. Yikes!   I don’t except to sell many books in the US. LOL.  However, if you live in Europe, you can go to Alibris UK site and get them for a much more reasonable price.

Winners!

Since there was only three entries, I decided to be generous let everyone win :).

So,  congrats Vivien, Ricki and Whitewolf! You have all won 🙂

Edit: All the winners have been contacted.  If you haven’t gotten an e-mail  with the subject line Giveaway Winners by tomorrow morning, contact  me at lind.mikaela at gmail dot com.

Review: Wilder’s Mate by Moira Rogers

Wilder's Mate (Bloodhounds, #1)Wilder’s Mate by Moira Rogers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Book: Wilder’s Mate by Moira Rogers

The Particulars: Steampunk, Samhain, e-book

Why was it in my TBR? I was in the mood for steampunk

The Review:

The blurb:

Wilder Harding is a bloodhound, created by the Guild to hunt down and kill vampires on America’s frontier. His enhanced abilities come with a high price: on the full moon, he becomes capable of savagery beyond telling, while the new moon brings a sexual hunger that borders on madness.

Rescuing a weapons inventor from undead kidnappers is just another assignment, though one with an added complication—keeping his hands off the man’s pretty young apprentice, who insists on tagging along.

My impressions:

I loved this. The world of a bloodhounds is grim, and gritty. The bloodhounds were a fresh take on Vampire hunters. I loved how Moira Rogers have added details from real dogs, and used them to create a sizzling tale about determination, survival and love. Wilder’s and Satira’s journey into the Deathlands felt realistic. The combination of a well-crafted plot, interesting characters, and a fascinating made this a satisfying tale.

Books everywhere!

I am a bibliophile, and I have two wardrobe filled with books to prove it. One at my apartment, and one at my mum’s.   My mum have hinted several times that it would be nice if I did something with the books. So, this week I decided to check up Amazon.  That plan fell on the fact that they want a valid US, UK, French or German bank account. Which I don’t have. So, I signed up with a swedish equivalent instead. At least until Amazon starts supporting Swedish accounts….  Anyway. Right now, it is a mix of english and Swedish books but later it will be dominated by English books.  My page at Bokbörsen.
Note: The page is in Swedish. Sorry.

Edit: And ten minutes after I posted this I discovered Alibris.  Which, will allow me to sell used books in a plethora of stores. So, I am looking into it.

Review and Giveaway: Spirit Dances by C.E Murphy

Spirit Dances (Walker Papers, #6)Spirit Dances by C.E. Murphy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Book: Spirit Dances by C.E Murphy

The Particulars: Urban Fantasy, Luna, available both in print and e-book

Why was it in my TBR? I love, love C.E Murphy

The Review:

The blurb:

As half of Seattle’s only paranormal detective team, Joanne Walker is a sassy urban shaman who has tangled with her share of odious creatures. Dark alleys might not raise her pulse, but her new assignment does: Recently, homeless people have been disappearing even more quickly than they can be identified and the killer seems to be materializing as a creature one would expect to meet only in hell. Vivid, realistic first-person narrative; empathetic characters.

My impressions:

To say that I loved this book would be an understatement. But, I have also struggled with this review. How do I tell that without spoilers? Well. I’ll try.

This book rocked me, from the start to the end. It made me laugh, and go aww. The book was a tightly written rollercoaster. Filled with interesting characters, and unexpected plottwists. I didn’t dare stop reading, in fear of missing something. The only thing that annoyed me was the end. But, it was the good kind of annoyance. The end is a big, honking cliff-hanger. The kind that want you drop this book, and pick up the sequel. The problem? It is a year to the next one..

Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks

Sweet Surrender (Sweet, #1)Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Book: Sweet Seduction by Maya Banks

The Particulars: Contemporary Romance,Berkley, available both in print and e-boo
Why was it in my TBR? I was in the mood for romance

The Review:

The blurb:

Under Faith Malone’s deceptively soft exterior lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants. A strong man who’ll take without asking—because she’s willing to give him everything…

Dallas cop Gray Montgomery is on a mission: find the guy who killed his partner—and bring him to justice. So far, he’s found a link between the killer and Faith—and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it.

My impressions:

This was another spontan re-read. I didn’t want to read fantasy, so I rummaged through my bookcase and found this. When I read it, I was reminded why I love Maya Banks. It is the first book in her Sweet Series.

It was refreshing to read a novel were the heroine tries seduce the hero, and not the other way around. The banter between the characters added an extra depth. The plot was well-written. I especially liked how the suspense plot and the romance plot interacted with each other.

This is a sizzling story, that grabbed me from page one.

A Veiled Deception (A Vintage Magic Mystery, #1)A Veiled Deception by Annette Blair

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Book: A Veiled Deception

The Particulars: Mystery, Penguin, available in Mass Market and e-book.

Why was it in my TBR? I was in the mood for mystery

The Review:

The blurb:
The right dress can be magic; the wrong one—murder! From the national bestselling author of Sensation’s Witch series comes the new Vintage Magic mystery series, featuring Madeira Cutler. While opening her own vintage clothing shop, Maddie must clear her family’s name when her sister’s wedding festivities hit a snag: murder.

My impressions:
I found this when I was cleaning my apartment. I wanted to read something that wasn’t fantasy or PNR. This is a cozy mystery, with a touch of paranormal. It is a story about love, present and past. And it is a wonderful tale. The story made me laugh, and say aww. And, I couldn’t put down. I think, I need to check out the rest of her books!

Sorry for the silence

I am sorry for the silence, and lack of reviews lately.  There is two reasons: I have been too busy to read books, not to mention write reviews.   The second reason? I got a new laptop this friday. And discovered when I had gotten Calibre up and running, that all the e-books I had added since August 2010 was missing. *takes a deep breath*  I am working on it, and should have it fixed today or tomorrow.
