Embarassment of Riches: July Round up

TBR-vignette1

Actually, this is the round up for both June and July, since I never did a June post. Mainly because I read 7 books in June.

Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow:

This has been in my TBR pile for years. I have started it a couple of times, but never finished it. Until now. It was well written, and I liked the world but I didn’t like the romance between Dante and Japh.

Unnatural Issue by Mercedes Lackey:

This was a Fantasy Romance, and while there was a HEA it didn’t feel right. The heroine spends the whole book pining for one guy ( This pining propelled the plot), and then ended up with someone else. Ugh.

The Cowboy takes a bride by Lori Wilde:

I liked it, but it didn’t feel like a contemporary romance, more like a women’s fic disguised to romance.

Dead Alert by Bianca D’Arc:

This was a Zombie book, and I liked the author’s voice and I liked the characters. I plan to get the novella that I don’t have in this series, since I think it is best to read the series in order.

Sweet Masterpiece by Connie Shelton:

I have had this in my Smashwords library for years, and finally got around to read it. It was Ok, but I didn’t like the paranormal element. It felt like it was just tacked on, not integrated into the setting.
